Days Famous People Were Caught Cheating

Today, if a famous person is caught cheating, it is considered big news. Americans seem to love good gossip and there isn’t anything quite as juicy as a famous person caught cheating. Whether it is just a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship or a married couple, people clamor to hear more about the situation.

Perhaps one of the most infamous days a famous person was caught cheating was in August of 1998. President Clinton had adamantly testified that he “did not have sexual relations” with Monica Lewinsky. But further investigation proved differently. This was brought to light for several reasons: because he was the President, because he was married and because she was a White House Intern. He finally admitted to a “wrong” relationship with Lewinsky on August 18, 1998.

But President Clinton was not the first politician caught in a cheating scandal. President Kennedy has long been rumored to have cheated on his wife, Jackie, although the press was much more discreet about reporting things like that in the Sixties. Married U.S. Senator Gary Hart lost any presidential aspirations he had when he was caught cheating with Donna Rice in 1988 aboard a yacht appropriately titled Monkey Business. It is even alleged by some that the father of our country, George Washington may have been an adulterer.

But it is not just politicians that get caught cheating. For years, celebrities have been notorious for cheating. One famous case of infidelity was when Elizabeth Taylor was caught cheating with Eddie Fisher, the husband of her good friend Debbie Reynolds. Their cheating culminated in marriage on May 12, 1959, but it was short lived. During the filming of the movie Cleopatra in 1962, she had begun cheating with married actor Richard Burton. Hugh Grant made the headlines when he was arrested for soliciting the services of a prostitute on June 27, 1995. His beautiful fiancé at the time, Elizabeth Hurley stood by him for another five years until their relationship finally ended in 2000. On July 18th of this year, Jude Law issued a public apology to his fiancé, Sienna Miller, after it was revealed he had cheated with his children’s nanny, Daisy Wright. And many people believe that the Brad Pitt-Jennifer Aniston married was dissolved by infidelity, although neither has publicly admitted it.

It seems that comedian Jackie Mason was close to the truth when he joked “Eighty percent of married men cheat in America. The rest cheat in Europe.”
