Continuing Education for Investigators of Spousal Infidelity in Fort LauderdaleFt. Lauderdale investigators/infidelityFort Lauderdale, the self-styled “Venice of America”, has been attracting both tourists and businessmen in increasing numbers every year. Indeed, this Atlantic coastal region of Florida is one of the fastest growing areas in the state. Of course, with an ever-increasing population comes an increased need for services; and, one of the most popular services requested is provided by the private investigator – investigation into spousal infidelity. This sub-field of private investigation accounts for almost half of all cases and is luring new investigators into the profession every year. Some investigators have decades of experience, while others have just the bare minimum. In either case, the investigator can greatly benefit from continuing education in a relevant academic field. Currently, there are no continuing education requirements for private investigators licensed through the state of Florida. There are, however, plenty of educational resources for those industry professionals who wish to independently further their knowledge of criminal justice studies and private investigation, in general. For the investigator of spousal infidelity and other types of cases in Fort Lauderdale, there are numerous local resources. Florida Atlantic University, Broward Community College, Keiser College and American Intercontinental University offer Criminal Justice classes at their Fort Lauderdale campuses. Keiser College offers online classes as well. Other educational opportunities are made available to the Fort Lauderdale investigator through local associations. The South Florida Investigators Association (SFIA), founded in 1980, and the Florida Association of Licensed Investigators (FALI) both promote continued training of private investigators through sponsored seminars and classes. FALI also supports the future institution of state-mandated continuing education for investigators. The Florida Board of Certified Investigators, Inc. (FBCI) is comprised of a large membership of private investigators who also believe that continuing education is a necessary part of the profession. To this end, the FBCI sponsors an optional certification program available to all licensed Florida investigators. In order to be certified through FBCI, the investigator must meet certain experiential requirements, be licensed in Florida, pass a written exam and take 20 hours of continuing education classes in the following subjects: Professional Conduct and Ethics, Statutory Compliance, Investigative Legal Issues and Investigative Techniques.
